Barack Obama on the Economy
The United States economy has become by far the most important issue in the 2008 Presidential election. This is because taxes are high, gas prices are high, foreclosures are occurring more often and jobs are hard to come by. When it comes to the United States economy to views of Barack Obama on the economy are ones that involves supporting the American people while encouraging businesses to keep their work in America.
First, Obama plans to make a plan involving the economy that deals with offering tax rebates to all people. This is similar to that of the economic stimulus that was sent out in 2008. Obama’s plan, which would total about $75 billion in cost, would involve giving all families tax rebates of $500 each. Also, a $250 supplement to all seniors for Social Security would be offered.
Obama is strongly supportive of companies that support the United States economy. These days more companies are moving jobs overseas. Obama plans to offering tax breaks and incentives to companies that keep their jobs in the United States. This is a reward for offering more jobs and more support for the United States economy.
The North America Free Trade Agreement, which allows for equal trade between the United States, Canada and Mexico, has been heavily criticized by some for hurting the American economy. Obama supports a negotiation of the agreement so that the three countries will be able to have equal support based on size. This means that the American economy would be protected along with the Canadian and Mexican economies.
Mortgage fraud has been a great concern in recent years. In 2006 Obama proposed a legislation that would increase punishments for groups that participate in fraud and in other acts of predatory lending.
More states are being hurt by the housing crisis as well. Many states are looking to give federal money to states that are being hurt by the crisis. This includes more money to states that are being hurt more than others.
Unemployment insurance, which helps to give people who have been laid off of their places of work, is vital in that it allows for people to have an income while looking for a new job. Obama proposes an increase in the amount of money that will be given to the national unemployment insurance so that there would be a greater level of support for these people.
The position of Barack Obama on the economy are important for the United States economy. Obama proposes a plan to give all people tax rebates. He also supports giving more support to groups that offer more economic support to the United States. Renegotiating NAFTA is another priority for the economy under his plan.
